1 box strawberry cake mix with pudding in the mix (8.5 oz/240g) – Pillsbury preferred
2 large eggs
â…“ cup vegetable or canola oil (80 ml)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
¾ cup powdered sugar (90g)
2 tablespoons strawberry preserves (40g) – Bonne Maman recommended
1½ tablespoons milk (22ml)
1 tablespoon cream cheese (15g) – optional for added tang
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray an 8×8-inch pan with nonstick spray and line with parchment paper
Combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth
Press batter evenly into the pan and bake for 18-22 minutes, until toothpick comes out with moist crumbs
Let cool completely
Whisk powdered sugar, preserves, milk, and cream cheese (if using) for glaze until smooth
Spread glaze over cooled brownies and chill briefly before cutting
Use a glass baking dish for even baking
Adjust preserves in glaze to reduce sweetness
Chill briefly for cleaner slices
